Another big day today but we took the subway where possible. First stop, Grand Central Station. In the New Style, epic and busy!
Back on the subway uptown to 86th Street and the Guggenheim Museum. Much to our disappointment, there was a great deal of refurbishment going on, scafolding masking the distinctive Frank Lloyd Wright building design. Also due to the work, several exhibitions were closed. With this is mind (and the fact you can't take photos), we decided to head straight down to the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art or just "The Met", is one of the world's largest and important art museums. This thing is massive and the range of exhibitions incredible!! In our limited time we viewed Egyptian Art, Medieval Art, Arms and Armor, European Paintings and Sculpture, Modern Art and the rooftop Sculpture Garden. The Modern Art collection includes Picasso, Leger (my fav, Woman with a Cat - looks like Voilet!!) and a huge Dutch collection including many pieces by Rembrandt. As with MoMA with our limited time we barely touched the surface.

Once we had our fill of cuture we returned to the Empire State Building to take in the sights during the day including both the outdoor 86th floor view platform and the 102nd floor enclosed viewing platform. The views are even more amazing than during the night, although it was a little hazy.
A quick look through the Macy's nearby (the world's largest department store) where we bought nothing (what's with that???) before heading back to the hotel for a pre-show nap.
